We are now at the first checkpoint of Ephesians
6:14.
As we have discussed earlier, it is
set in the context of the armour of God as recorded in Ephesians
6:10-17.
To reiterate, the truth of our
righteousness in Christ will keep every part of our being intact and
secured. And having been established in
this truth, we can then walk, that is, live our lives in peace; knowing that
God has gotten rid of sin that stood between Him and us. God is for us; not against us. As a matter of fact, God has never been
against us. God hates sin but love the
sinner. Just as a parent hates the
sickness that is affecting the child but loves the child. A sickly child is not
able to enjoy his childhood. Likewise, a
sinful child of God is unable to enjoy the blessings of God. Just as the sickly child needs to recover
from the sickness and be restored to health, so the sinful child of God needs
to be cured of sin and be nursed back to health. Remember, Jesus has removed
the “s”
from the curse. He has cured us from the disease of sin. He kicked the “s” out of the curse.
Therefore, the pith of Ephesians
6:14 is:
“Christ crucified is the truth of our righteousness”.
We are the righteousness of God in
Christ. That is the truth and the truth
shall set us free as written in John
8:32! Amen!
The penalty or wages of sin
is death as written in Romans
6:23. And that penalty includes
the entire process leading to death which includes sicknesses, diseases,
infirmities, depression, so and so forth.
