We
are now at the second checkpoint of Isaiah
6:10. It is also set in the
context of God sending the prophet Isaiah to preach about the Messiah as
recorded in Isaiah
6:8-13.
While
on the track of John
12:38, we saw from John
12:37 of the context passage that Israel failed to believe in the
beloved Son of God as Jesus of Nazareth to be the Messiah even though He
performed many miracles attesting to His identify.
The
words “insensitive”, “dull”, and “dim” indicate unresponsiveness. It was a foreshadowing of how Jesus the
Messiah will be rejected by Israel.
Hence,
the nub of Isaiah 6:10 is:
“God forewarned Isaiah that his preaching
will be rejected”.
