We are on
the first track of John
12:38. It is also
set in the context of “Israel’s rejection of the Messiah Foretold” as written
in John
12:36-43.
In
John
12:37 of the context passage, it is stated that Israel failed to
believe in Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah even though He performed many
miracles attesting to His identify.
John 12:38
puts on record the fulfilment of the rejection of the message of salvation
through the Messiah as foretold in Isaiah
53:1. As such, it leads back to
the trailhead of Isaiah 53:1.
Hence,
the thrust of John 12:38 is:
“Prophecy of the rejection of salvation
message fulfilled”.
