The checkpoint of Isaiah
40:3-5 is set in the context of the greatness of God as written in Isaiah
40:1-6.
“How great is our God, sing with me
How great is
our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God”
In
Isaiah 40:3-5, we read of a voice calling out and this voice is none
other than John the Baptist as we have seen from Luke
3:1-6; an instance of the Bible interpreting the Bible. We have also seen from Luke 3:1-6 that
John the Baptist was preaching the arrival of the Messiah Who will avail the
salvation of God to all humanity.
Therefore,
the gist of Isaiah 40:3-5 is:
“Announcement of the arrival of
the Messiah by John the Baptist foretold”.
