We
are now on the first path of Isaiah
42:6. It is set in the context
of the promise of God concerning the Messiah as recorded in
Isaiah 42:1-7.
Here,
we see the first two of the four basic tenets of the purpose for which God
appointed the Promised Messiah; namely, to be a:
1. Covenant
to Israel; and
2. Light
to the Gentiles.
In other
words, the Promised Messiah will be the Saviour of the World. The essence of Isaiah
42:6 is therefore:
“The Promised Messiah will be the
Saviour of the world”.
