We are now at the second checkpoint of Luke 2:32, which is also set in the context of God revealing Jesus of Nazareth as Saviour to Simeon.
When
we look at Luke 2:32 in context, it refers to the truth that “The
Salvation of God is also for Gentiles”.
In
Romans
11:30-32, Paul shared that the other nations, that is Gentiles, were at
one time disobedient in refusing to acknowledge God. By that same disobedience,
Israel refused to acknowledge the beloved Son of God in the flesh as Jesus of
Nazareth as the Promised Messiah.
However, the once disobedient nations have now received the mercy of God
through the redeeming blood of the beloved Son of God in the flesh as Jesus of
Nazareth. And when Israel see the mercy
of God that has been shown to the rest of the world, they would become jealous
and would want the same mercy by acknowledging Jesus of Nazareth as the
Messiah. In the nutshell, God has
imprisoned the entire world in an initial state of disobedience so as to show
the same mercy to all.
This
profound wisdom of God was hidden in times past but has now been revealed to
the world through the apostle Paul who recorded it in Romans Chapter 11.
