We
are on the first track of Mark
15:42-47. It is set in the context of the burial of Jesus of Nazareth as
recorded in Mark
15:39-47.
From
here, we see that it was Joseph of Arimathea who buried Jesus of Nazareth. He was a prominent member of the Jewish High
Court. Being a respected member of the Jewish High Court, the fact that Joseph
of Arimathea buried Jesus in a rich man’s tomb accentuated the innocence of
Jesus of Nazareth. It was a proclamation
that Jesus of Nazareth died innocently. Even Pilate the Roman governor had
declared Jesus of Nazareth to be innocent as written in Luke
23:13-16.
The gist of this track is that:
“A respected member of the Sanhedrin buried Jesus in his own tomb”.
