In
this first trailhead of Isaiah 50:4,
we see a repetition of the phrase “As One
Who is taught”. It brings to
mind the second trailhead of Isaiah 49:2
from the second Marker of Isaiah 49:1-9. Back there, we read of the prophecy that God will
speak through the Promised Messiah.
From
the trailhead of Isaiah 49:2, we saw
how John 5:19
and John 12:49
verified that God spoke through Jesus of Nazareth:
John
5:19
Jesus
said that “He does only what He sees His
Father doing”.
John
12:49
Jesus
revealed that “The Father Who sent Him told
Him what to say and what to teach.”
The
definitive verification can be seen in John 7:14 – 15
where it is recorded that “The Jews were perplexed and wondered how Jesus of
Nazareth became so well-versed in the Scriptures and theology without formal
training”. It is
definitive in that people may regard what Jesus said about Himself as someone
blowing his own trumpet. But coming from
the mouth of the generally unbelieving populous, that written testimony can be
readily admitted as bona fide evidence.
Hence,
these New Testament scriptures verified that Jesus of Nazareth has fulfilled
the Isaiah 50:4 Messianic
credential; He will be taught by God.
