We
are now on the track of Luke 22:37.
The
verse is set in the context of the impending persecution that the disciples
would encounter as recorded in Luke 22:35-38.
Luke
22:37 makes a reference to Isaiah 53:12.
Jesus of Nazareth said that what was spoken about the Promised Messiah in Isaiah
53:12 would be fulfilled in and by Him. In Matthew 27:38,
Mark 15:27
and Luke 23:32,
we read of Jesus being crucified with two criminals.
Therefore,
the focus of Luke 22:37 is:
“The
Promised Messiah was crucified with criminals”.
