Volume 3 3rd Trailhead – 1st Trail – 2nd Track – 1st Checkpoint – 2nd Path – 5th Station – 1st Signpost
We are now at the first signpost of Acts 2:24.
The verse is set in the context of Peter’s first sermon to the Jews on
the day of Pentecost when the 120 disciples were indwelt with the Holy Spirit.
There are five pertinent points to note from the
context passage.
1.
The gift of the Holy
Spirit was foretold by the prophet Joel;
2.
The prophet David saw
and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, the Promised Messiah;
3.
God accredited Jesus
of Nazareth as the Promised Messiah with signs and wonders. This brings to mind what Jesus said in John 10:24-25. “The work that I do in My Father’s name testify
concerning Me. They are My credentials
and the evidence declaring Who I am.”
4.
Jesus of Nazareth is
the Lord and the Promised Messiah; and
5.
Last but not least,
the gift of the promised Holy Spirit is for Gentiles as well.
In view of the above, the thrust of Acts 2:24
is the:
“Resurrection of Christ Jesus”.
