Volume 2 Isaiah 42:4 4th Trailhead – 1st Trail – 2nd Track – 3rd Checkpoint – 1st Path – 2nd Station
Acts 2:33
is set in the context of Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost when the Holy
Spirit indwelt the disciples in the Upper Room as stated in Acts 2:22-24. In Acts 1:15, we read that 120
disciples were gathered in the Upper Room awaiting the coming of the Promised
Holy Spirit.
The coming of the Holy
Spirit was the fulfillment of Pentecost while Jesus’ sacrifice was the
fulfillment of the Passover. If you
recall, the following are the first four Jewish festivals:
1.
Passover (Pesach)
2.
Unleavened Bread (Chag
Hamotzi)
3.
First Fruits (Yom
Habikkurim)
4.
Pentecost (Shavu’ot)
This is how I read
them. Jesus, the Lord of Sabbath, came
to fulfill the Passover on the Cross. He
is the unleavened word of the Gospel and also the first to be resurrected with
an incorruptible and immortal body as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:20. His perfect work of redemption has resulted
in the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit.
